I am searching for more ideas for my 6-8th graders. So far, this is what I have. I create ALA Graphics READ posters for students who have earned 100 AR points. These are displayed in the library windows and also used as screen savers on some of the library computers.

I am hosting a party at the end of the year for students who have read at least 5 books from the Texas Lone Star Booklist for grades 6-8. Students must prove they have read the book by creating a podcast or vodcast review/trailer, passed the AR test, or any other evidence required by their teacher.

To promote reading and participation in the state children's book award contest we hold a video jeopardy contest within the school. Later, we challenge teams from other elementary schools in the state via video conferencing.
